Context is for the WeaK...Again!

How about this panel from Adventure 495:

DC Comics have changed a lot over the years, but one thing will always remain the same.

It kind of sucks being Aqualad.

    you are very funny.

    just sayin'.

When I need a break from life I come read one of your missives on Guy/Hal/John/etc., and it drives me to go back and read all of my old Mosaic comics or some such.

jeff: thanks! Of course, the rest of the time I post things like this. :-) So it's probably a fair trade. :-P

Ah, the joy of out-of-context panels. What an endless source of amusement.

I wouldn't know about it sucking to be Aqualad, though. He seems almost eager to have this gang of burly men in black underpants FINALLY do something to him. He's not even trying escape, and with his super-strength, he easily could.*

*At least I think he has super-strength. Aqualad's powers are about as well-defined as Donna Troy's origin.

SpiritGlyph: Hmm...you do have a point.

And yeah, heh, there's a reason I like him better as Tempest. He might not get to do much, but being a good old fashioned mage-type is at least easy to understand*

*That is, if he's still alive...

As Homer Simpson would say, "It's funny 'cause it's TRUE."

I'm with you there. Mages have poorly defined limitations, but that's part of the concept. It's a lot less messy than "able to control the temperature of water, or maybe create ice, and let's throw in enhanced senses or something."

Plus Tempest wears pants. No male character should be allowed to have bare legs as part of their costume. The only ones who get away with it, such as Namor and the Thing, who skip the shirt as well. They're allowed leeway because underpants aren't a costume, just a way to keep from being arrested.
