Pretty, Fizzy Paradise

I'm back! And reading! And maybe even blogging! No promises!

Darn you Geoff Johns:

Well, I did manage to make it to an Internet Cafe! Yay me! Still, replies are probably going to be sporadic to non-existant until Wednesday.

On the plus side, I am able to finish compiling for my guest column at Blog@Newsarama so I'm happy.

Anyway, I've decided to celebrate by hating on Geoff Johns.

Because I was all set to hate almost everything about Our Worlds at War until his JSA issue. Not only does it have a Sand that is competent and cool, (a nice contrast to the mishandling in the World's Finest issue) but it has this scene:

That's like the cutest thing I've seen in a long time. :-)

I can't hate a story that gives me THAT. :-(

I actually kind of liked Our Worlds at War for a number of different reasons, but chief among them was Superboy #91. It involved three stories if you haven't read it: Superboy's reaction to Impulse's "death," Jim "Guardian" Harper as a soldier, and Krypto growing up a little.

I'm in the process of rewriting a blog post from a while back in which I talk about why it's so great, which I'll hopefully have done by the time you get back from your internet break. I can link it if you're interested. It's easily one of the best books DC has ever put out.

For some reason I'm reminded of the "Sins of Youth" crossover, where the Young Justice members became adults and all the older super heroes became kids. Stargirl as an adult in charge of the kiddie JSA'ers was probably the highlight of that whole thing.

It's too bad DC-time runs so slowly. I'd really like to see a grown up Courtney. They could do a series with Jack Knight playing the role his father did in his own series.

Am I the only one who liked that issue by the way?

Liked which issue? I personally enjoyed the dickens out of Sins of Youth.

Loved Sins of Youth and really, really disliked OWAW - although the JSA issue was a highlight, as was the Young Justice one-shot.

Other than that, it was mainly badly-co-ordinated dross.

Although now I think, I do seem to recall a cute Harley Quinn special where she teamed with Jimmy Olsen...

david: OWAW to me is a collection of some great issues sporadically amidst dreck. :-)

But I'd love to see your post! Link!

Brandon: I loved that issue. Especially Sandy the Golden Boy. :-P

    What, I'm not biased, really!

    flint: Probably the JSA one.

rich: I agree. Still there were a few gems...when Jeph Loeb wasn't writing Sand. :-( (Sand =/= Cyclops!)

And thanks! Look for it tomorrow!

Sins of Youth was awesome. And I love how this artist lets you see Power Girl's abs as clearly as her... other assets.

"OWAW to me is a collection of some great issues sporadically amidst dreck."

That pretty well describes my response to most superhero comics... :-)

"And I love how this artist lets you see Power Girl's abs as clearly as her... other assets."

They're called "boobs." We're allowed to say "boobs" around here, right? Or "breasts?" What about "tits?" Is "tatas" or "gazoombas" a little too crude?

Honestly, I don't see the need to pussy-foot around the obvious `round here...

P.S. Congrats on your guest column, Kalinara. Glad to see I'm not the only one to (recently) notice Katherine's blog. :-)

    ununnilium: Is nice, isn't it?

ferrous: I don't mind any such terms. :-) Assets is funnier though.

    And thanks!
