Further Thoughts on the 90s Avenger Cartoon:
In No Particular Order
-Okay, that bit where Hank makes such a big show about trading the future in to save Janet and they freak out and it turns out Booby Trapped? HOT.
-Captain America's Voice Actor has very old style animation speech pattern, hee.
-I think I may be starting to appreciate Mallet's love for Namor.
-A twenty some odd foot tall man keeling over in front of the Avengers headquarters is worth the price of admission.
-Scarlet Witch/Vision is still creepy.
-Vision's cute though.
-I think these are all the same voice actors from X-Men, which is a little jarring. I admit, I mostly know him from She-Hulk comics, but I think that Hawkeye shouldn't sound like Wolverine.
-Tygra as Rogue seems to work for me.
-Hank's a little...off, isn't he? If he were my teammate, I think I'd be pushing therapy.
-Do Wonder Man's sunglasses actually serve a purpose in the comics?
-Okay, if what Flidget told me is right, and Ultron really is made from Hank's own brainwave patterns...doesn't ANYONE think that might be a sign he needs psychiatric evaluation?
-That's not even counting the Yellowjacket mess. I saw those issues. "Oh! Yes! I knew he was insane the whole time!" Jan's not the most stable individual either.
-Ultron's body image issues are kind of interesting though.
-Namor/Scarlet Witch flirting! Yay!
-Where's Thor? Cap and Iron Man show up. But there's no Thor. :-(
-The transformation scenes are still amusing as hell

Just to cover up his weird-looking energy-eyes, which tend to freak people out. (At least, that was the case in the '70s/'80s. I guess he's all-energy now, which makes them kind of moot)

I also liked Falcon+Hawkeye, But lets be honest GA could kick Hawkeye's ass!!)
What is Tygra's origin anyway? I agree the same voice as Rouge thing works.

I thought that was just me. It just sounded too nasty for him. From what little I've seen of him, he was a good-natured guy and shouldn't have sounded so gruff.

When you look up "squandered potential" in the dictionary, there's probably a picture of this cartoon next to it. I look at the 90's X-Men cartoon or the recently ended Justice League one by comparison, and I feel ripped off at what might have been.
It was almost like the producers were sabotaging it on purpose. "Hey, let's make a cartoon of Marvel's greatest superhero team --- but leave off the three most popular characters! Well, they've still got a strong cast (the Pyms, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Wonder Man), so how about we redesign most of their costumes and personalities so they're practically beyond recognition? Maybe make them more like the Power Rangers? Yeah, that should work!!"
I liked the guy who voiced Hawkeye in the Iron Man cartoon better than the Wolverine guy; he made Clint sound more like an regular joe.
Were Hank Pym and Scott Summers voiced by the same guy?

Namor is pure awesome.
I'm so glad DC decided to shamelessly rip off the character concept; Namor's shit-stirring of international metahuman politics was really the only thing I felt was lacking from the DCU.
Well, that and Doctor Doom. Who can we retrofit for that role?

You know, I read your first post and as I read this I realized -- there was a 90s Avengers cartoon? How did I miss this?
Anyway, I never understood the whole Scarlet Witch/Vision thing either. I mean, did they have to give Scarlett Witch a mate at all? Oh, yeah...as we learned from Ragnell's blog, the best thing that can happen to a woman in comics is for to have a mate who's a superhero. I guess happiness, soemtimes, in the Marvel universe is just plain creepy.

Hank Pym is in DIRE need of psychiatric counseling. It's actually been touched on, once or twice, but he's worse about staying the therapy course than fellow founding Avenger, Bruce Banner.
Frankly, Janet Van Dyne needs therapy, too. For one, she keeps taking Hank every time he goes around the bend, even though he's been physically abusive at least once.
For another, she took advantage of his mental illness to maneuver him into marriage when he was in the middle of a schizoid break. If that's not on Ragnell and Kalinara's Big List Of Abuse, it should be.
These two are the single most dysfunctional couple in comics.

Clint in Ironman was better, and if he is medical mental isn't he being equally if not more abused?
Anyway I liked the costumes too. IMOO They did have good stories though, the New alem Agitha hawkins ep was my fave.

Taken just as a superhero cartoon it was ok. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't awesome like it could have been. Think of what they had to draw from. Out of all Marvel's books, only Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Spider-Man can match the sheer number of epic storylines the Avengers comic has featured in its in its history. I mean, Captain America on ice! The Space Phantom! The Kree-Skrull War! The Masters of Evil's assault on Avengers Mansion! The Squadron Sinister/Supreme! Korvac! The Crossing! (Uh, maybe we can forget about that last one.)
