A Fleeting Thought:

Huh, I had a random thought, while watching the trailer for the new Spiderman movie, specifically when Spider-Man's fighting the Sandman (Sand-Man?).

Sanderson Hawkins is really kind of the amalgamation of three different Sandmen isn't he? He's following in the footsteps of his Golden Age mentor, as a detective with sleep gas. He's got the prophetic dreams to tie him to the Vertigo/Gaiman Sandman. And he's made of earth and dissolves and smashes things like the Marvel one.

Only, not evil.

Actually, temporarily-evil Sand might be kind of awesome. He'd be scary.

I have to say though, in a fight between Sandy and Peter...you know where my money's going. Either way, the sheer snark factor would make this a fight worth seeing. :-)

    You're picking Spidey, right?

Just as a little tidbit, Marvel's Sandman actually reformed for a while, helping Spidey fight the Sinister Six (which has started threatening the people he was living with to gain his cooperation), and even being a reserve Avenger for awhile.

It all fell apart eventually (like most of the rehabs Spidey characters went through in that time), but it was kinda cool to see at the time.

I'm enjoying Sandy, and I blame all of it on you. I hadn't been too familiar with him previously, but he's a great character. And sarcastic to boot!

green: Heh, Lightning Lad's in the future and the Marvels...well, they have to HIT him first. :-)

calvin: Hmm. Emo web-crawler versus pragmatic earth monster. Emo web-crawler versus pragmatic earth monster...

Honestly, Spider-Man would probably win by editorial fiat, but all things being fair, Sand does have cooler powers, a more malevolently scheming nature, and has superhero experience stemming from childhood :-)

sally: Hahah! One step closer to the fruition of my evil plan!

    anonymous: Good to know!
