A Question for Feed-Readers

Okay, I've got a question for anyone who reads PFP via feeds.

Right now, I've got it on "short" entries. I do this because the full feeds don't seem to recognize spoiler cuts, and I'd really rather not flood anyone's blog reel or friends' list with spoilers if I can avoid it.

But now that I've started to read blogs via bloglines myself, I've realized that I tend to prefer reading full feeds myself. I'm not sure, though, whether I want to change my feed to full or keep it on short. I'm curious, which, if any, do you prefer?

Let me know?

Personally I prefer the full-length entries. If it's on my Bloglines I'm going to read it anyway, why have that extra step? :)

I don't have PFP on a feed, but those blogs I do follow that way I prefer full articles.

For webcomics I actually prefer the link rather than the comic since I'm using it just to track WHEN it updates...

I much prefer full feeds. I tend to skip over partial ones because I don't usually have the time to click over to the site to read the full version.

I agree with the previous commenters about full-length entries being preferred. But, you're one of my must reads, so I tend to click on your link to read the whole entry. But, if you weren't, it would be easier for me to skip over your entry.

I've only just subscribed, but I much prefer full entries.

I think the reason it's ok in feeds rather than on blog frontpages/livejournals is that in a feedreader it's trivial to skip to the next item, whereas on a webpage there's no easy way to do that.

You can put me in the "prefer full-length" group, too.

I hate short entries. Also, do give a go with Google Reader, I just moved from bloglines to greader. It's pretty pretty.

Full length! If someone is worried about spoilers, they shouldn't be reading blogs! The only time I tend to like short posts in feeds is when it's a long post and it's cut with a More tag or something.

Another vote for full-length - I do most of my reading via Bloglines and it's annoying to have to click through.

I seem to be in the minority here but I prefer the short entries. I track a ton of blogs via Bloglines and hate scrolling past 1000+ word posts on topics I'm not interested in.

Short entries challenge the blogger to have compelling opening paragraphs that make a new reader want to click through and read more, which then often leads them to checking out what else they've written and coming back regularly.

If you're worried about spoiling people you could put write *Spoilers* or something right after the spoiler cut?

I prefer full feeds. If there's a review for something I haven't read yet, I'll just mark it unread and move on to the next feed, then go back and read it later.

But I'm lazy and unless the short bit grabs me, I don't usually click to the site for the rest. I read over 400 feeds (some are photos and news) and the less clicking I have to do, the better.

Depends; do you want discussion to stay in one place or not? Because with a full feed, I tend to comment in the place where I read it, which is livejournal. If you don't mind having bifurcated comments, I have a mild preference for full feeds, though if I'm really interested I don't mind clicking through.

My own journal uses partial feeds, for a variety of reasons. I don't mind partial feeds, and your point about cuts is a good one I hadn't thought of (although you could just put a big boldfaced SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT warning line right before the spoilers.

I click through to read articles outside of bloglines that catch my interest, regardless of whether they have a full feed or not. Especially for blogs that tend to have a lot of interesting comments, like this one.
