Really?

From the solicit for All-Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder:

Batman and Black Canary get down to business — the business of criminal skull-cracking! Things heat up on a storm-tossed shipyard as the pair hunts down the mystery man behind the murder of Dick Grayson’s parents. Plus, Black Canary isn’t the only one of Gotham’s fairer sex to be aroused into action by the Dark Knight’s war on crime!

"Aroused into action"?

"Aroused into action"??

Okay, I've always wondered if ASBARtBW was an intentional parody, if Frank Miller was actually in on the joke. I still don't know if he is, but I really hope so. Otherwise, well, when even the solicit writer sounds like he/she is making fun of you...

Well, let's just say, I really really HOPE he's in on the joke.

I've always felt that Miller is too smart to not be in on the joke. Despite his (deserved or no) reputation, he's done some pretty smart things in his comics work.

I hope he takes the batplane this time. It took him six weeks of real time just to make it to the batcave from Gotham in the first one.

Man that is one hideous Black Canary on the cover.

I hear he's in on the joke.

The thing is, who thinks it's funny?

I wish they'd just cancel this thing.

    I second that, Filby.

filby and ektypic: Maybe keeping this on an approximately annual schedule is the closest thing to cancelling it without actually saying that they've cancelled it.

What purpose would cancelling it serve? It's not like A*BaRtBW is taking the place of some other comic?

    DB,

I have to disagree with you. I don't imagine that DC is so bullet proof as to publish books at will. Considering the cost of promoting the book, paying the creators etc I'm sure there are other books that aren't being published because this project is on their schedule. This to me considering the extremely poor quality of the product is a down right shame.

So the theory is that Frank Miller is handed his own Batman series, a series which is initially promoted as an all-ages reintroduction of iconic characaters, and the reason the comic is utterly insane is because Miller is playing a joke? Who is this joke supposed to be on? If I was at the big desk at DC under these circumstances and I thought Miller was just kidding around, I'd be thinking the joke was on me.

    Hi,
I don't agree with you that DC will publish a book.
