Favorite Couple Back Yet?

So...Tora and Guy are gonna get back together soon, right?

I'd wondered if they were going to leave them apart actually, but having Guy's name calm Tora down really does seem like a really really good sign.

Guy and Tora are like my favorite adorable couple ever so I'm really really hoping.

Especially since Guy's not brain-damaged and crazy anymore, but he's still Guy. I always thought it was so sad that it was only after her death that he was finally healed enough to become the person she believed he could be and he'd tried so hard to be for her (and never quite made it). I want her to get to know THIS Guy. And I want them to be happy!

Admittedly, Tora wouldn't fit GLC at all, and it's terribly unlikely that Guy'll leave GLC to join Birds of Prey. (Though the idea of "Gal Gardner" in Birds of Prey makes me laugh my ass off. Especially since Zinda was IN Warrior back then!) But really, why would either of them have to?

Why couldn't a happy couple star in two separate books and occasionally pop over for a "going out on a date, bye!" sort of cameo appearance? Admittedly, Guy doesn't seem to get back to Earth very much, but they can work around that! And unlike a lot of superhero books, GLC doesn't really focus on romance at all (aside from that tiny bit with the butterfly lady), so it wouldn't lose anything to have a romantically-involved-off-panel lead.

Besides, Guy showing up to be "love-interest-in-distress" in Birds of Prey would certainly amuse me. A lot. :-)

Mostly I just like them because happy couples are so damn rare in comics or in the real world. And I think they deserve their chance, and I've got a huge measure of fan-entitlement wrapped up in this, so if they don't get a fair shot I'm gonna tantrum and cry. Or just sulk and mutter curse words and write bad fanfic.

Just warning you. :-)

As I said on B@N, I really really hope Ice doesn't get shoehorned into Countdown or some other Big Event. It would be nice for their relationship to happen largely off-panel and between books.

For some reason I don't see Ice staying in Birds of Prey. I do want to see how she reacts to Fire's Checkmate role, Blue Beetle's death, etc. Kind of ironic that Guy's gotten better while her other teammates have either died or gotten darker. I wonder if Gail Simone will take Ice with her to Atom or even Wonder Woman.

In any event, I'd be much more excited for Guy/Tora nuptials than I am for Ollie/Dinah.

Ice is back from the dead? Man, I really need to get my finger back on the pulse. :p

It is a bit difficult at times to bring in a stable, long-term couple into comics that don't fall into either the Reed/Sue or Clark/Lois categories; a couple that have been married so long you basically see them as one unit or a couple that has one dynamic go-getter and one (seeming) nonentity. (I meant Lois and Clark respectively, at least as they'd be viewed by civilians).

I think it'd be interesting to see a relationship where the girl isn't the damsel in distress or the darling wife, but just a fellow hero who happens to enjoy his/her partner's company. No refrigerators or cliched deaths/breakup drama need apply. It'd be an interesting fictional experiment in the Boys Clubhouse that superhero fiction tends to be.

You know that I am SO with you on this. It would be so nice for them to just be...happy for a change.

Remember in GG:Warrior, just before Emerald Fallout, when he had tracked her down and was trying to tell her he could change...and then they got attacked by stupid old Mace? Ice was a bit on the fed up side, and who can blame her, but really,he was trying so hard. And then he goes off to fight Parallax, and she winds up dead. *sniff*

I'd much rather get Fire out of Checkmate and into Birds along with Ice. They'd be a whole lot happier, that's for sure.

Yeah, I really liked the Guy/Tora relationship from way back when (one of the few things I actually like about Guy) but I really hope they take it slow.

However, if GLC doesn't have Guy rushing to Earth to meet Tora when he finds out she's alve...I'll be quite angry. Ditto for Fire, but she's in a pretty dark place now so I could understand her reluctance to meet someone who arguably knew her at her best.

I really, really, really want the scene where Guy bursts through a wall, gets a happy reunion.. and then gets scolded for busting down said door.

I want them to be happy! I don't care if it's an off-screen romance or on screen stuff. I just want them to be happy. Being happy doesn't mean either of them has to quit being a superhero. Hell, it doesn't mean one of them has to migrate onto the other's book.

It's like a marriage between two cops who work different precincts, or a marriage between a cop and a lawyer,or hey! Doctor and paramedic. They both have really important jobs that can pull them away at a moments notice, but are still happy together.

I'd be onboard for a Guy/Ice happy relationship. And i like the idea of them each staying in their own books, too. Guy could use his ring to zap back to Earth once in a while. Or maybe Ice has access to some supernatural powers that could zap her to Oa. Or, she's a goddess, so doesn't she have an otherworldly bungalow? They could meet there.

I became a Guy fan via Green Lantern Corps: Recharge, and have picked up BoP regularly since One Year Later started. Finances have kept me from buying comics as of late. But if Guy and Tora were to be reunited, I'd rush out to grab that issue toute suite.

On an unrelated note, I've finally answered your interview questions from two days ago. Sorry for the delay.

If one of the first things Tora says to Guy when they reunite isn't "I like your haircut", I will be quite sad.

You know, reading this thread... I see so much awesome that I may weep.

I've already been wondering over on my blog when the Guy/Tora relationship is going to be renewed.

But yeah... we so need Bea to bust out of Checkmate, join The Birds and have Fire and Ice together again.

    Anyone have Sean McKeever's e-mail?

But hasn't Guy had his shore leave revoked for the next year? And he doesn't seem to have much contact with the Earth GLs.

It could be a good long while before Guy finds out Ice is back.

Guy's shore leave was revoked in Green Lantern Corps: Recharge, which took place before Infinite Crisis. His year's up.

Besides, he appeared toward the end of 52, showed up in Green Lanterns 10-13, and toward the end of Ion.

:-) He's also been on Earth at least twice in Blue Beetle. He's gonna find out sooner, rather than later. :-)

Of course! He was in Blue Beetle! I loved that issue.

Sorry. I just bought and read Recharge last Wednesday, so I kinda read it like it was happening "now" instead of seeing when it was published. Whoops.
