Veronna is Cool!

I don't have a post for today. Sorry. I just don't. It's not happening. Brain is fried.

But since I don't like leaving you guys TOO empty handed, I'm gonna post this, from Warrior #40. Mostly because it never fails to make me chuckle.

Poor Veronna. Too bad you dropped into limbo. Sane characters, especially kickass warrior queens who are sort-of betrothed to Guy Gardner, are vastly underrated!

Besides, she was the best bouncer Warriors had ever seen! See look below (from Warrior 29, this time):

That's CAPTAIN ATOM she's intimidating. Admittedly, the man's kind of a tool. But he is like a walking reactor or something*. And she's totally got him sweating. Heh. Totally underrated.

* To be honest, I STILL have no idea what Captain Atom actually does. I know he's very shiny though?

Well in JLU he went toe to toe with Superman. And he might be the new Monarch. Maybe...

I think he's got the flight, supertough/strength brick package, energy bolts thing going on...

You know thinking about it, I really have no idea what his SPECIFIC abilities are. How strange...

Meh, who cares what he can do. :-P Veronna can intimidate him. That's what's important.

    Veronna is awesome. <3

Don't look at me, man, the most recent Captain Atom I've read was by Ditko. Charlton Captain Atom is dreamy. As is Veronna, apparently.

I think Cap Atom's main power is being able to convert radiation/energy from one form to another, and then fire it as an energy bolt.

And he is a complete tool, yeah.

If you go back to DC's very good Captain Atom series in the late '80s/early '90s (Pat Broderick! Cary Bates! Military intrigue!), he's not a tool at all, and they've got a pretty good take on his powers.

He's an Air Force guy who was framed for a crime and forcibly volunteered for an experiment with metal from an alien spaceship, back in the late '60s. The metal bonded to him and sent him through time to the present day. So now this alien metal gives him a connection to the quantum field that he can manifest as strength or flight or energy blasts or whatever... but they wrote it cool. The other little tweak they gave him is this: if he tries to absorb too much energy from outside, it pushes him forward in time.

    Captain Atom? Feh.

Veronna on the other hand, was and IS awesome. Gosh I do miss her, along with Buck and Rita and Joey and Desmond.

However, I suppose that living in Comicbook limbo is safer than handing them over to somebody like Winick, who would start killing them all off.

I miss Captain Atom and still refuse to believe that the real Nate is Monarch because it makes no sense whatsoever.

And I am unreasonably intimidated by his shiny metal buttocks.

    And yes, Veronna is awesome.

Ohh my god I was a little bit scared about it because I thought you gonna leave us without a piece of entertainment, I think Warrior number 40 is one of the best I've seen I'm gonna get that release.
