Hmm

I was thinking about what power I'd least want to have. Without resorting to the powers that really, invariably suck a.la Cyclops's optic blasts, Rogue's sucky touch, or most of the Morlocks' little talents.

I suspect ultimately the power I'd least want to have, in the end, is telepathy.

I'm already neurotically self-conscious enough without knowing for sure what other people think of me, for one.

For two, I suspect it would be FAR too tempting to use for ill. I don't necessarily think I'd become a supervillain mind you, though I've been told I've a good mind for it (insult or compliment, you decide!) but I would, at the very least, be incredibly, remarkably petty.

For three, well, think about how little you actually want to know about your fellow man. For example, take porn. Many people like porn. Many of these people are probably friends and family of us. But I could go my entire life, happy, NEVER knowing exactly what kind of porn these people read. If I were a telepath? I might be stuck finding out. Egads.

I suppose, I'd take telepathy over having no power at all in a comic book universe (I'm not smart enough to compensate for being powerless) but I'd take pretty much anything else first.

Just being able to READ minds would be pretty sucky, really. If on the other hand, you can INFLUENCE minds, like Xavier and Emma, then it would be a heck of a lot more fun...not to mention more lucrative.

Phooey, I just want a Green Lantern Ring.

Super-hearing. Pretty much this power for the same reason as telepathy more or less.

Second to Super-Hearing....the worst power to have would be the Hulks'. You gotta worry about never getting angry ALL the time.

Speaking of the Hulk, that kind of strength would be more trouble that it's worth.

Bypassing the REALLY sucky powers, I would say the power I'd least like to have is empathy, especially the kind like Raven has where you can take another person's pain and wounds into yourself. Every time one of your idiot teammates charges in like a moron and gets a traumatic or potentially deadly wound, guess who's the go-to person? And every time someone in your general vicinity so much as gets a hangnail, you're feeling the effects. Your job on the team is essentially to be in constant pain. Telepathy's a freaking picnic compared to that.

I might have to vote for intagibility. Sure, it sounds fun, being able to pass through things like a ghost. What if your concentration slips while you're passing through something? If a wall suddenyl solidifies inside your brain or heart, well, I think you're kind of up the creek.

Wow... telepathy is pretty much always my first choice. I'm neurotic but I guess it's in a more self-indulgent way...

I actually think super-strength could potentially suck... this is mostly after watching the episode of Buffy where Giles becomes a demon... he tries to answer the phone and breaks it in half, tears the doors off the hinges trying to open it and rips apart his shirt.

I also think if lots of people had superpowers I wouldn't mind Rogue's power suck power. It lets you try everything. Plus, back-in-the-day, whenever the Carol Danvers personality took over, she could control the power. Rogue's lack of control was all in her head...

Considering some specialization of powers, it would be even worse to have telepathy that was limited ONLY to discovering what kind of porn a person liked.

Flight would suck: there's a plethora of other powers you'd need to make it worthwhile (invulnerability, for one, or at least some resistance to weather).

Telekinesis is the real money power: with it, you can emulate so many other powers: super-strength, flight, etc.

Telepathy might be pretty cool if you can choose when you use it, and when not. Like a switch on/off button or something. And it would be really cool if you could actually communicate with someone with saying anything (I guess they'd have to telepathic too?).

I don't think I would want to be invisible. I want people to see me. (though again, invisibility might also be a choice. I don't have to be invisible unless I choose to be). Plus, if I am invisible, knowing my clumsy self, I'll probably bump into something, or drop something while spying on someone, and how embarrassing would that be!!
