Side thoughts

I've been watching the trailers for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (never read it, though I probably will eventually) and I've come to the realization that Michael Cera is a weird looking guy.

I feel kind of bad saying that because he's a kid, but yeah.

And suddenly I'm reminded that I never did get to see Jonah Hex. I remember thinking the posters looked cool, but I'm kind of afraid of Megan Fox. Was it any good?

    In a word: NO

Brolin was good, but Fox? I had zero idea what she was saying. Also what who her character was, since nobody said it.

Too much like WILD WILD WEST, not enough UNFORGIVEN

Chris Sims' citing its similarities to the WILD WILD WEST movie was enough to keep me away. WWW was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

You're probably better off seeing INCEPTION instead. Now THAT was worth admission price.

There's only one real Jonah Hex adaptation....
And it's the DC Showcast on Batman Under the Red Hood DVD/Bluray! :P

I didn't see it... And won't! It sounds too much like another Wild Wild West!... Can't Hollywood just make a simple western, I mean a real one not a crappy lackbuster set in the 18xx...

Don't know about Jonah Hex, but I saw an advance screening of Scott Pilgrim last night.

It was awesome! They adapted the comics extremely well, and created a movie that is almost as stylized and unique as the comic. :)

Of course I only read the comics for the first time a couple weeks ago, so a bigger fanboy might have problems with it that I didn't see.

Brolin good? I thought he was horrible and oh so wooden. He needed the Blue Fairy to make him a real boy. Fox was what I expected and that means she was eye candy that delivered her lines. Agree on the Wild Wild West comparison. I think that they threw everything about the Hex continuity into the movie.

Inception, WOWZA! Worth the price of admission and reminds you of just how good DeCaprio is as an actor.

A-Team is the funny and well done popcorn flick of the summer. Plus they actually pulled off character development.

I haven't seen Inception yet (meant to, but it came out during the height of my bar prep) but I've heard nothing but good things about it so I do intend to see it eventually.

I have this weird thing about Leonardo DiCaprio though that for all that I intellectually know he's been in a lot of intense and ambitious projects and done really well, I still see him as the kid in Titanic.

It doesn't help that the man's supposedly 37 and hasn't aged since 1996.

I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyway though. :-)

    A-Team was awesome, no question.

I saw "Scott Pilgrim" last weekend and loved it. Prior to the movie, my only exposure to the comics was the occasional Chris Sims or Friday Night Fights scan, but I guarantee that will change.
